Gen Nady

Composer, Musician, Producer, Visionary

Gen Nady was born in Baku 1970, the capital of Azerbaijan, at that time, it was part of the USSR, now it is an independent country.

His first musical experiences, studies and impressions were created in a vast ocean of sounds and different styles from Russian folkloric music and Orthodox Russian church Gregorian chants, to Middle Eastern rythms from Azerbaijan from American R&B , Blues, Pop, Rock, and Soul music, to the unlimited creative side of Jazz and Classical music.

His Biggest influences and inspirations were from artists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, and Prince as well as British and American Rock Pop bands such as The Police, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd , Genesis , Paul Simon ,Brian Eno and Jimi Hendrix. He was also influenced by the Jazz Legends John Coltrane , Miles Davis, Charlie Parker , Bill Evans , Herbie Hanckok and many more, who defined his personality as a musician , performer, and composer.

In 1992, after his graduation as an arranger, composer and saxophonist at Baku National Conservatory of Azerbaijan in the midst of a war and ethnical conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia during separation from the USSR, and after when Gen Nady petition to become a Russian citizen and political refugee was denied by the Russian Federation Government.

Gen Nady was forced to leave the ex USSR and was thus persecuted by the rebel Azerbaijani military regime for being a human rights activist and for his disagreement to participate in a civil war between Azerbaijan and Armenia , Thus, Gen Nady became "a man with out a country". Gen Nady left his country and traveled to Cuba and then to Latin America where he started a new life and submerged himself by studying and exploring Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz music forms. Then he discovered and mastered Afro-Peruvian music and rhythms from the World Music singer and Grammy Nominee Susana Baca and the well-known Afro-Peruvian percussionist Julio "Chocolate" Algendones...

He integrated these newly learned styles such as Festejo, Lando and Zamacueca from Peru As well as sounds from a vast range of Latin American influences derived from the music of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Brazil to create a unique fusion of multi-cultural sounds that are reminiscent in his works as a composer and performer. During his decade long stay in Latin America Gen Nady not only toured to perform his own works, by also worked as a recorder, collaborator, and producer, producing an array of live multi-media concerts for many well known Jazz, Rock and Pop artists.

In addition to his musical experiences, Gennady also dedicated his life to support educational and charitable organizations dedicated to children and teenagers in governmental schools and communities through out Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia , and Chile through Government supported sponsors like Yamaha Musical Instruments and National Institutes of Culture.

His breakthrough and debut as an eclectic composer, performer and producer in USA took place in October 2008 at the Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles, where he presented his groundbreaking World Music and Electronic Multimedia Project that gathered many artists from Latin America and Spain and was dedicated to special guest Quincy Jones and his charity organizations "Millennium Promise" and "Malaria No More" hosted by renown writer and motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

Visionary Gen nady moves freely from Jazz to Rock and Pop music as a performer and composer and his influences blend sounds From World Music with Eclectic fusion and Electronica infused with the beats of the lost corners of tribal Latin America.

Gen Nady currently lives between Latin America and the USA, producing, collaborating, and supporting several musical projects in the studio. He also produces live shows in association with Los Angeles based Dreamscape Studios, and Miami based "The Avenue of Sound" record studios, Jensen Communications, and Universal Music. In addition, Gen nady lends his composing talents to many up and coming artists, musicians, and film makers.
